This one-woman, one-act production featuring a live band includes the hit song ‘Take That Look Off Your Face’, ‘Capped Teeth and Caesar Salad’, ‘It’s Not the End of the World … If I Love Him … If He’s Young … If He’s Married’, ‘Let’s Talk About You’, ‘Nothing Like You’ve Ever Known’ and ‘Tell Me On A Sunday’.

Emma will delight and entertain you with a variety of ballads, a splash of Jazz, and a sprinkling of sass thrown in for good measure!

Award-winning lyric soprano SIAN ATTERBURY, who has captivated audiences time and again, stars as Emma on Wed 24th @ 8pm, Fri 26th @ 8pm, Sat 27th @ 6pm and Sun 28th @ 3pm and 6pm.  Opera singer, actress, producer and director REGINA MALAN plays Emma on Thu 25th @ 8pm and Sat 27th @ 8pm.

Petrus dreams about his ancestors in a mental hospital. His ancestral grandmother, Diana van Madagascar, walks on the seabed back home. His grandfather Piet, an apartheid senator, relives his speeches on his deathbed. Can Petrus bring reconciliation to his family, or is he too sick to distinguish between reality and dream?

Droomwerk was awarded the ATKV-Woordveertjie in 2021 for best new drama text and shortlisted for the Hertzog prize for Drama. Jill Levenberg has received various nominations and awards for her interpretation of Diana van Madagascar.

SHAKESPEARE SCHOOLS FESTIVAL

42 schools and drama groups will showcase their talent, presenting 30-to-40-minute plays that explore themes ranging from love and identity to power and ambition. The festival encourages diverse performance methods, from dance to spoken word, creating a platform for self-expression and inclusivity.


As always, the Festival is not just about Shakespeare but about sharing the stories, experiences and voices of enthusiastic school learners, drama societies and community youth groups from diverse backgrounds, cultures and with different physical abilities as they come together in the name of Shakespeare to explore the narratives found within his literature.
